How do I install an Aerial Hammock?

These guidelines will help you properly and safely install your hammock for a rewarding aerial yoga experience. Please follow these instructions carefully.

As always, it is recommended to have a professional install or inspect your rigging set up regularly.

Required Materials and Tools:

Aerial Hammock

Two Carabiners

Strong Ceiling Mount, Beam, or Rig

Measuring Tape

Optional: Rigging Plates or Freestanding Aerial Rig

Installation Options:

Option 1: Freestanding Aerial Rig:
Freestanding aerial rigs are versatile and can be used both indoors and outdoors. They can accommodate various aerial equipment, providing a portable and flexible installation. Set up the rig on a flat surface for stability.

Option 2: Exposed Beams or Secure Rigging Point:
If you have the luxury of exposed beams or a secure rigging point within your living space, this installation option can provide a more permanent setup for your aerial hammock. Exposed beams should be tested by an engineer or experienced rigger to ensure suitability.

Option 3: Ceiling Hooks or Fixed Rigging Point:
Ceiling installation is a more permanent option. It's important to consider that this option offers only one spot for your swing, which may not be as flexible. Ensure that your home's structural integrity can support the installation. Exposed beams should be tested by an engineer or experienced rigger to ensure suitability.

Determining Suspension Point Distance:

Safety First: Always prioritize safety. Find a strong beam or ceiling mount for your aerial hammock installation.

Suspension Points: You will need two points of suspension, shoulder-width apart. The hooks and/or straps should be inserted and/or hung approximately 60cm to 80cm (24 to 32 inches) apart. Use a measuring tape to ensure the correct distance.

Installation Steps:

Tying Knot and Carabiner: Begin by tying a knot on each end of your aerial hammock, ensuring it's secure. Attach a carabiner to each knot.

Attach to Suspension Points: With the carabiners in place, clip them onto the suspension points you've measured and prepared.

Final Inspection: Ensure that everything is properly secured and that there is enough clearance in your space for safe use.

Safety Considerations:

Always prioritize safety. Seek professional advice if you are uncertain about the suitability of your installation location, especially when attaching to ceilings or beams.

Studios may leave 5-6 feet minimum between each hammock, but for maximum space usage, staggering the hammocks is recommended.

Enjoy Your Aerial Yoga Experience:
